Donald & Sharon Purdie, Data Ensure, Norton
Data Ensure Inc. was founded by Donald and Sharon Purdie in 1995 with a mission to help local businesses and communities with all their IT needs, while providing outstanding customer service and a forward looking vision.
In 2002, the founders decided to move their company to the Pioneer Center for Business Opportunity (a small business incubator) in downtown Norton, Virginia. Data Ensure, Inc. still continues to serve many of the small businesses in the region by providing expert advice and quality solutions to technical problems. Data Ensure, Inc. also provides remote data backup services. Data used by entrepreneurs is often stored on their computers and it is central to their business. In the event that data is lost (through disaster or accident), Data Ensure can restore it. This enables small businesses to stay focused on what they do best, thus facilitating growth. Data Ensure, Inc. also provides IT consulting services for businesses that want to expand or become more efficient through technology.
From this nurturing incubator environment, Donald Purdie and Barry Tate founded Commonwealth Systems, LLC in 2008. This is a local software development firm specializing in court management products. Commonwealth Systems, LLC goal is to lead local court systems and legal agencies towards being completely paperless. Commonwealth Systems, LLC is poised for next level growth and expects to hire two programmers as part of this evolution.
Commonwealth Systems, LLC, maker of eLegal Case Pro, received the 2011 Southwestern Virginia Technology Council’s High Tech Small Business and Entrepreneur Award.
Donald Purdie became a Mountain Empire Community College SBDC client in 2002. Over the years, Donald has taken advantage of the local SBDC services for counseling, training, business planning, strategic planning, and financing. Donald‘s solid business plan enabled his company to get approval for a low interest micro loan from the Wise County and City of Norton’s Napoleon Hill Loan Program which is administered by People, Inc.
Donald is active in community organizations (Wise County Chamber of Commerce, Southwestern Virginia Technology Council, Kiwanis, Masonic Lodge, etc.) and has been quoted saying that “Southwest Virginia is poised to become one of the growth regions in the Commonwealth.”
