In the rapidly evolving world of advanced transportation, innovation often outpaces infrastructure. For the founders of Allocortech, that gap became an opportunity. Drawing on their experience designing next-generation aircraft systems, Brian Viele and Matt Walker recognized the need for a company capable of producing affordable, reliable power electronics for electric, hybrid-electric, and hydrogen-powered vehicles. Together they launched Allocortech in 2018 with a clear mission: to design and manufacture safety-critical systems that make future transportation possible.

Allocortech develops power electronics solutions for vehicles that travel by air, land, and sea. The company’s technology is used by advanced vehicle developers around the world, helping them bring concepts to life faster and at lower cost than traditional suppliers. Each project is tailored to meet unique performance requirements, setting Allocortech apart in a competitive global market.

While the team had deep technical expertise, expanding internationally presented new challenges. With guidance from the Virginia Small Business Development Center (SBDC) – International Business Development Program (IBD), Allocortech built the framework it needed to operate confidently overseas. Through SBDC advising, the company established export classifications, developed a compliance program, and gained access to markets outside the United States.

The impact has been substantial. Over the past two years, Allocortech’s sales have grown by more than 50 percent annually, and its workforce expanded from 22 to 26 employees. The company launched several new motor controllers and increased its international customer base from one to eight clients.

“The SBDC’s support was indispensable,” said the leadership team. “They helped us evolve from a product-driven company into one that delivers integrated solutions tailored to every client.”

Looking ahead, Allocortech welcomed new CEO Chad Rogers, who is pursuing capital investments to accelerate growth. Expansion plans include enlarging office space and adding staff to meet the rising global demand for its power electronics solutions. From its home base in Waynesboro, allocortech continues to shape the technology that will define the future of transportation.
