Little House Green Grocery
Little House Green Grocery was founded by Erin Wright and Jessica Goldberg in 2012, to create a neighborhood friendly grocery in the Bellevue area on the north side of Richmond, VA.
As grocers, they work with over 60 local farmers, bakers, and food artisans to offer delicious foods, new ideas, and great service. Little House Green Grocery sells fresh Virginia-grown produce, dairy, meats, groceries and fine pantry staples along with prepared foods, beer, and wine. They offer a weekly subscription service for fresh fruits and vegetables. Little House Green Grocery presents events and classes for the health-conscientious consumer and the adventurous cook. The store has had oyster-shucking demonstrations, a class on whole-wheat baking, and a presentation by a chef renowned for his pickle dishes.
Little House Green Grocery was part of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Startup Competition for entrepreneurs and innovators. They were one of the top 12 finalists and worked with the Greater Richmond SBDC in the development of their business plan and formation of the business.
Erin and Jessica have done an excellent job in meeting their growth targets, utilizing social media and word of mouth to attract more customers. The number of customers doubled along with the number of items they stock with sales increasing 235% month over month. They have developed a local community customer base that guides them in identifying new products and service offerings. Their goals have broadened as they became successful.
